When 3 Became 5

My last Doctors apt was on March 24.  My OB checked me and there had been no progress, so we went ahead and planned on coming in the next day for a C-Section.  We were supposed to be there at 8am, but while we were getting ready we got a phone call telling us to come at 11am.  When we showed up at 11 they then told us that we were being pushed back yet again.  By this time I was starving and dieing of thirst since I hadn't eaten or drank anything since midnight the night before.  So by 2:30 they finally walked us down to the Operating Room.
Daddy All Ready To Go

Our little Teagan was born first at 3:03 pm weighing in at 5lbs 12 oz, and measuring 18.5 inches long.  This little cutie started crying the second they took her out, and for about 2 hours after.  Apparently she was not ready to come out and was letting us know.

Then came our pretty Peyton.  She was born at 3:04 pm weighing in at 6 lbs 5 oz, and measuring  20 inches long.  This little mellow girl did not cry when she was born, and was just looking around taking it all in, until they made her.

Proud Daddy With His Beautiful Girls.
When they were first born they held them up over the draping so I could see them, but it is only for a few seconds so I could not tell if they looked alike or how big they were, and then were taken by the NICU Doctor and Nurse to be checked out.  Stu then went to check on them, and see how they were doing.  Both were perfect, and beautiful.  When Stu came back the first thing I asked was if they were OK and if they looked alike.  To our surprise they looked totally different.

Mommy Holding Them For The First Time.

This C-section seemed to go a lot better than MacRae's, I guess it helps not to be on bed rest for 12 weeks prior.  I was so excited that they both got to come to our room with us.  Peyton got to stay they whole time, but Teagan had to go to the NICU, for only 2 hours since she was so small and couldn't keep herself warm.

Peyton looks like the Tripp side.  She has light hair, with a hint of red, and rosie colored skin.

Teagan looks just like MacRae, but with Stu's eyes.  She is totally a Flockhart, and has olive skin and dark curly hair.

Peyton Left & Teagan Right

My parents brought MacRae to come see his babies first.  He seemed so big to me, and I finally realized that he is not my baby anymore.

He wasn't too sure about holding them, but loved to sit with dad and check out all of their features.  He just kept telling us how tiny their little hands and ears were, for about 5 min. and then he was off to play.

A pro at holding both from the very beginning.

Grandma Sheri

Papa Steve who these 2 little darlings are lucky enough to be born on this amazing mans Birthday.

Grandma Heather

Papa Drew

The grandparents could not have been more excited.  We called them both to tell them, that the babies had been born and they both showed up at the same time within  a half hour.

These 2 little cuties loved to be right next to each other.  The nurses did not like us putting them in the same bassinet, because then they couldn't tell which one was which, but anytime they got fussy we put them together, and they would move closer to each other so they were touching and clam right down.

Teagan

After 4 days, and lots of visitors we finally all got to go home.  Neither one was too excited about being in their car seats, and cried until they were in the car, and on our way home.

Peyton

The entire time I was in the hospital all I could keep thinking was that they were both mine, and I got to take them home.  It took a lot to finally get these babies.  It was very hard on us emotionally, financially, and mentally, but after holding them in my arms for the first time, it was totally worth, and I instantly forgot about all the pain.  We are so blessed to be trusted with these two little babies to have in our family.  I was worried I would not love them as much as I love MacRae, but it is amazing how much love a person has for their children!!!

Oh Marci!! I have been waiting (im)patiently for this post for a while!! :) They are beautiful!! I'm sad I didn't get a chance to see them before (and in real life). I love ALL the pics-especially the one with the girls together in the bassinet and the one where you are (quite literally) holding the girls in your shirt. :) Hope you're getting enough rest and things are going fantastically!! Love ya

I don't check blogs that often, so I just ran across this post today. I am in LOVE with that picture of you holding the girls to your chest. Absolutely beautiful! A picture they will treasure for the rest of their lives, I'm sure.
