You Should See The Other Guy

Friday we were playing golf in the backyard as a family. Stu hit the golf ball, and right as he hit it MacRae stood up and it hit him in the eye. We rushed him to the emergency room, because his eye was filling with blood. After me freaking out to the poor lady at the front desk, we were taken back to be seen immediately. They tried to look in his eye, but it was swelling fast. The Nurse could see a small hematoma (bleeding inside the eye ball), so they ambulanced him to Primary Children's Hospital. Before leaving Jordan Vally Hospital, my dad, Stu's dad, and Stu gave him a blessing. I have never felt the spirit so strong. I was instantly comforted and at peace, and knew that he would be alright. He was so excited to ride in the ambulance, that he didn't cry the entire way there.

When we arrived the doctor was waiting for us, they couldn't get a very good look, because the eye was so swollen. He was then taken for a CT Scan, to check for any damage and broken bones. They had to strap him down so he wouldn't move, and he just screamed hysterically. The scan showed no broken bones, or any trauma to the eye ball itself. He then had to be sedated so they could look into the eye to see how big the hematoma was. To watch your small child scream and cry, and to be in so much pain is horrible for a parent. There was nothing I could do to take the pain away, and it broke my heart.

After the specialist looked into his eye, he determined that there was a hematoma on the bottom of the eye. He said that as long as he does not re-injure the eye, or no more bleeding occurs he should not have any long term damage. He has to wear a patch 24 hours a day, and drops in the eye 8 times a day for a week. He will also have to have numerous eye exams with a specialists over the next 6 weeks.

We are so lucky that it wasn't worse. I know that the power of the priesthood, kept him safe and me calm enough to deal with it. I am so thankful to my heavenly father for watching over and protecting our little family. Thank you to all of you for all your support, with meals, toys, visits, and phone calls. We are so lucky to have so many people that love and care about us.

How does he feel about the patch? Does he try to rip it off regularly? Poor guy! Glad he's on the mend!

Heather called me and told me all about it, Sam and I have been praying for you guys all weekend. Even if only that you two as parents are ok, cause I know it is hard to watch your child in pain. I hope you are past the worst part.

So glad that he is ok. Does he think he is a pirate? Way to stay strong through all of that.
