Grandma Greats Fur Coat

This coat belonged to my sweet little Grandma Vera Burt. She passed away in August of 2002, so it has been quite a while since it has been worn. I brought it home to our house, because my sister-in-law wants to wear it for her wedding. When MacRae saw it he said, "I want to wear that, it like a kitty." He put it on gave it a big sniff and petted the arms for a minute, then he was done.

This coat has so many memories for me. When I picture my grandma I always picture her in this. Before I was born my grandparents moved to California, so I only got to see them once or twice a year. It was usually in the winter for Christmas, so I think that is why we saw her in this so much. My Grandma was an a amazing lady. She was the only one I had, since my Dad's parents passed away before I was born, but she made up for it. She always brought us presents when she came to visit and had Skor candy bars in her purse for us. For holidays or birthdays she would always send enormous packages full of all kinds of fun stuff. When she got older and wasn't very active, we would lay in bed with her for hours and listen to her sing us songs and tell us poems she had memorized. When she had great-grandkids they all started calling her Grandma Great, which is a perfect name for her because she was great.
