Scotland

We went to Scotland for 2 1/2 weeks with all of Stuarts Family, 23 in total. It was a long 14 hour flight, with an energetic 18 month old. MacRae decided to only sleep two hours of the flight, and only with his Daddy. He did the best he could, and was all smiles when we finally made it there.

We went to the Highland Games in Pit Lochry
and the Highland Loos!

Edinburgh was a beautiful old town, with the castle and cemetery. We didn't tour the castle, since we had been in it the last time we were there. We shopped all the little stores and bought MacRae an authentic kilt. Finishing the day with dinner in a Pub.

Another trip we took was to St Andrews. We went with Steven, Jill, and Ella. It was so fun to get to spend time with them one on one. Steven and Stuart got up at 5am to wait in line to play St Andrews Old Course. This is the First golf course in Scotland, were the Masters play. Have you ever seen happier golfers. Jill, Ella, MacRae, and I hit the shops while they golfed.

Our favorite part of Scotland, was the trip to the highlands. We got to see were Grandpa MacRae grew up, and the old houses he lived in. This is one that he lived in later in life. Now it is only occupied with sheep. We had to climb a fence, and walk through a land mine of poop to get to the house.

The last stop on our tour of the Highlands was the Eilean Donnan Castle. A long time ago a man named Duncan MacRae helped defend this castle. To repay him they let the MacRae's take care of it. Inside it there was tons of history, and crest about the MacRae's. It was so neat to see our sons name in such an important place of family history. It showed us what a great name MacRae has to live up to!

On our way back to Grandmas we got to see some Highland Coo's grazing in a pasture. So ugly that they are cute, kind of like Stoggie.

The last week of our trip Grandma ended up having to be in the hospital, with a chest infection. It was very hard to leave her, not knowing if we would ever see her again. But it was worth the trip when we would see how her face would light up, every time that MacRae walked in the room, and she would call him "Wee Man." He couldn't get enough of her sweet kisses. All she had to do was ask, and he would pucker up!

This is our favorite family in Scotland, Sarah and Fergie. They live across the hall from Grandma. They do everything for her, from making her dinner, getting her pills, to just keeping her company. We don't know what we would do without them. MacRae would run across the hall and knock on there door, whenever he could get out. We love them so much.

I want to thank Heather and Drew for organizing such a fun trip. You are amazing in-laws. I couldn't ask for a better family to belong to for eternity. Not only did I get your handsome son, but I got the two of you also.

I've been to Scotland once, and loved it. That's even more awesome that you went to places that Stu's family lived and saw all the history of the MacRaes. Cute pictures!!
